Davis re-formed his working group (adding Coltrane as a third solo voice) in January 1958, after he returned from Paris, and 1958 was a very busy year for the Sextet: Birdland, New York (January 2-15); The Continental, New York (January 21-26); Lenny Litman's Copa, Pittsburgh (February 10-15); Town Hall, Philadelphia (Sunday, February 16, 8:00pm); Pep's, Philadelphia (March 17-22); Town Hall, Philadelphia (Saturday, April 5, 8:30 and 11:15 pm); Modern Jazz Room, Cleveland (April 7-13); Clarence's Blue Bird Inn, Detroit (April 15-20); Café Bohemia, New York (April 25-May 4 -- Bill Evans replaced Red Garland on piano just before this engagement, and Philly Joe Jones left the group afterward to form his own group.
